In the run-up to the 2010 General Election in the UK, Martin interviewed David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Gordon Brown.
The interview with David Cameron was described by totalpolitics.com as one of the Top Ten UK political interviews of the last 50 years and received widespread media coverage including: Channel 4 News, Sky News, the BBC’s Have I Got News For You, Channel 4’s Alternative Election Night, Channel 4’s 10 O’Clock Live, ITV’s The Agenda, the BBC’s This Week, The Times, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Mirror and The Observer.
Shortly after Tony Blair left office he gave his first major interview about his religious faith and conversion to Catholicism, to Martin on BBC One.
Martin has also worked as a political reporter for the BBC News Channel, Sky News and BBC One’s flagship political programme, On The Record.
Before he became a journalist and started reporting on politicians, Martin worked on US President Bill Clinton’s 1992 election campaign and as an intern on Capitol Hill for Congressman Richard Gephardt. After university, he worked as a House of Commons researcher for Sir Alan Duncan MP.
